Emma Watson
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was just five years young, she moved to Oxfordshire where she went to Dragon School. Emma knew she wanted to act at the age of six. She trained for several years in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts. This part-time theatre school taught her singing, dancing and acting. She was a stagecoach actor and performed as the lead in several Stagecoach productions. In 1999 casting started for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) it was the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents discovered Emma through her Oxford theatre instructor. After eight auditions consistently Producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were selected for the roles of the three lead characters, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the screen came with the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film set records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and was the most-grossing film of 2001. Film critics praised the film as well as the performances of the three young actors who were the most prominent. The Daily Telegraph, a British publication with a significant circulation, called her performance "admirable". Emma received the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film, and was later nominated for five prizes. Emma rose to fame after the film's first success in the series. For nearly ten more years, she played the part of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma acquired two Critics' Choice Award nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her role in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
