Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was conceived in Miami, Florida on November 30, 1977. American electro-house musician, record producer, D.J. & music executive. He is the son of Rocky Aoki and Chizuru Kbayashi. His father was a former wrestler, and was also instrumental in helping to establish the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has two older brothers: Kana (sometimes called Grace) and Kevin (owner Doraku Sushi restaurant). The half-sister of his model and actress Devon Aoki. He was born in Newport Beach, California & graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1995. He played on the varsity badminton team. He later attended UC Santa Barbara, graduating with two B.A. He also earned two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist studies, and the other in Sociology. In the college years, he made DIY records and ran underground music events out of his Biko room at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch became a concert venue when the apartment was renamed The Pickle Patch. He also was involved in student activities at UCSB. He established a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. He had started his own record label during the 20s. It was named Dim Mak, after his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. In March 2010 the singer released I'm in the House, a collaboration w/ the Zuper Blahq-like alter-ego of the Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am. It reached the top spot at No. 29 in the U.K. Singles Chart in the first week of its release. The track climbed to the top five of both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart. The song was featured in the MTV series Jersey Shore. It also was featured in Piranha the feature film Piranha as well as the trailer for Think Like A Man. In a May 2010 interview with HitQuarters Lucas Secon, the producer-songwriter confirmed that he as well as Rivers Cuomo had just worked on one song. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the highest-grossing dance artist in North America from tours. His collaborations include artists such as Afrojack, LMFAO and Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS, Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vici and Fall Out Boy. He is well-known for his remixes of artists like Kid Cudi.
